Men of Purpose

Scriptures explain in Ephesians 5:23 KJV for the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body, with this in mind, reaching out to a man translates to reaching out to a household hence the birth of MOP as a ministry.

The MOP Ministry exists to build and raise up the spiritual leadership role in every man that is part of, or is yet to take up an active role, in ministry both in RFP ministries and beyond of which will be known to be of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom. Acts 6:3 NKJV “Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven MEN of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business” We invest in teaching and preaching and sharing the word of God to build a leadership spirit in men who will be able to honour God, love their families and serve in Church and communities and their nations.

To achieve this, as Men of Purpose Ministries we commit to:

i. Stay focused on the spiritual goal of making men of God through prayer and consciously practicing the presence of the Lord a real part of each event. We will always set an example by following the high road; staying away from trivial, gossipy dialogue and close-to-the-edge jokes that characterize most men’s forums.

ii. Develop the reading culture among the men so that they develop their reading hunger for spiritual books and other materials that pertain to the Christian home, worship in the home, fatherhood, investments and other subjects that specifically address the concerns of men living a new life in Christ.

iii. Compile a list of Bible promises that pertain to various situations and encourage the men to fortify their hearts and strengthen their commitments by memorizing these promises.

Eleven Unspoken Needs of Men that we take into account in our operations

i. Men need Action. Men’s self-images are largely determined by what they do for work and what they accomplish. A man’s goal orientation pushes him to achieve things and to focus until the task is accomplished, the leadership is action oriented.

ii. Men need Safety. One silent rule of masculinity that society has taught us is “Thou shalt not show emotion.” As a result, men often feel they can’t be open with one another unless there is a safe environment created by time and confidentiality which will be provided

iii. Men need to be challenged. In the Gospels we often see Jesus drawing a line in the sand and daring the disciples to meet Him on His side and it is no different today. Men aren’t interested in a ministry that gets together to chew the fat. They want to be challenged to act, pray, behave, and think in a way that glorifies God.

iv. Men need to get to the point. We will not waste time on fluff and trappings. We know that Men want to know what two or three practical life applications they can take away from their time together. Men have grown up with the pressure to win. Men’s Ministries needs to have challenging yet achievable goals.

v. Men have a need to Dream. Men grow up dreaming and scheming big. Involve the men in the brainstorming process of designing Men’s Ministries. Encourage men to discuss their dreams during informal times as well, and to help each other finds ways of acting on them.

vi. Men need other men like them. Men naturally gravitate toward men facing the pressures they face and doing the same types of jobs they do, such as, we will focus on raising men of purpose who will be role models in the society (Spiritually, Intellectually and physically) who in turn will bring more men into ministries.

vii. Men need Freedom. Men that are taught from boyhood to win develop a fierce independence as such, they have difficulty forming friendships with other men. Often, they would rather stand alone and fight alone than work together. We will strive for solidarity while at the same time respecting each man’s need for space

We also have different activities to make the ministry exciting such as business seminars, specialized meetings (Married, singles, courtship tips), father to son talks, boot camps, career talks, jazz nights among others.
